15th Vermont Latino Festival presented with support from the 2010 Census

Sept 9th - Sept 12th, 2009

CENSUS 2010- "The Vermont Latino Festival is presented with support from the 2010 Census. The 2010 Census is a 10-question form that will be mailed to your home in March 2010. You should fill it and return it by mail to ensure that money and power is equitably distributed among all communities. Information about the Census will be available at the information booth."

Children's component isBACK!!! Children's Component sponsored by DRM Weekday activities will include: dance lessons, Zumba, children's film, Dance and more.

Saturday: MAIN EVENT FESTIVAL PROGRAM

A Puro Swing - High energy six piece Merengue Band is taking the East Coast by storm. They are considered the hottest Latin Dance Band. Puro Swing will perform their fiery dance music at the 15th annual Vermont Latino Festival.

Dance Demos Deana of VTZumba will be leading the Zumba Team Demo at the Main Event! If you missed last year - this is a MUST not miss demostration.

Hunter Houde of VT Sabor will be performing a Dance Salsa Rueda with some of Vermont's finest Salsero/as.

Victoria Moore of SalsaLina will perfom.

Kultura Borikua Jay Borges & Kultura Borikua mixes rhythms like Salsa, Plena, Jazz, Bolero, Samba and other genres that define the Puertorrican and Latino Cultures. A performance that must not be missed!

MEET THE ARTIST - Join Kultura as they provide us a history of the music. They will also conduct a close & personal percussion workshop. Place: Burlington Boathouse Saturday : 6pm TIME: FREE!

Latin Boat Cruise 11:00PM - 1:00am | Board at 10:30pm

DJ Boat Cruise on the Spirit of Ethan Allen III Meet the boat next to the Burlington Community Boathouse. Join Vermont's finest Latino DJ "El Salsero" Hector Cobeo & Massachusetts Latin DJ Lopez and they provide you with Two Floors of Latin Music (1 floor: Salsa/Merengue..2 floor Merengue/Bachata/Reggaeton/Urban Latin) aboard the Spirit Of Ethan Allen for two hours of cool breezes and hot sounds on the beautiful Lake Champlain. This NEW Boat has plenty of room to dance; rain or shine the Latino Boat Cruise is the always the popular event of the Festival! Tickets: $15.50 (Space limited) Tickets sold at the Flynn Theater box office. Call 86-Flynn for tickets.

Event: Latino children's film Place: Fletcher Free Library, in Fletcher Room- Burlington, VT TIME: 3:30PM - 5:30pm Activity: Children's Latino Movie Enjoy a light snack, make a fun craft, and watch an episode of Maya and Miguel, La Calavera, about the Day of the Dead, a fall celebration in many Latin American countries. FREE Event:

Event: Merengue/ Bachata Lesson by VT Sabor Dance Group: Hunter Houde Place: Contois Auditorium - City Hall Building: TIME: 7:30pm - 8:30PM Cost: $5 donation

Event: Spanish & English Playgroup Place: Callahan Park- Burlington, VT TIME: 3:30PM - 5:30pm Activity: Come play at the park, mingle with other families, sing Spanish songs, and make crafts. FREE Event:

Zumba lesson by Deana Place: Contois Auditorium - City Hall Building: TIME: 6:00pm - 7:15PM Cost: $5 donation. Deana has been involved with dance fitness since 1997. In 2000 Deana began her career as a fitness professional by teaching Jazzercise. Deana is AFAA certified in group exercise, personal training, and she is fully insured and CPR certified. Deana will be leading the Demos at the Main Event!

Event: Salsa Lesson by SalsaLina: Victoria Moore Place: Contois Auditorium - City Hall Building: TIME: 7:30pm - 8:30PM Cost: $5 donation Victoria Moore is the founder of SalsaLina Dance Studio. She has introduced the On One (1) club style Salsa to the Burlington area.

MAIN EVENT - September 12, 2009

Burlington BoatHouse 3pm - 10:30pm | FREE

A day filled with cultural events for ALL AGES! The Festival program includes: Folkloric music & activities, children activity tents, dance demonstrations, meet the artist session, music workshop, food samples, games, vendors, food vendor, and music, music, music!!

LATIN BOAT CRUISE - Continue the night on the Spirit of Ethan Allen III with the famous "Gran Finale Espectacular!" 11:00PM - 1AM | Board at 10:30pm. Join Vermont's finest Latino DJ "El Salsero" Hector Cobeo aboard the Spirit Of Ethan Allen for two hours of cool breezes and hot sounds on the beautiful Lake Champlain. This NEW Boat has plenty of room to dance; rain or shine the Latino Boat Cruise is the always the popular event of the Festival! TICKETS GO FAST!!! Don't get left on the shore!
