The Burlington School Food Project will kick off its summer meals program with free lunch for all children 18 and under!
In 1986, Burlington joined more than twenty other cities throughout the country and established a Kids Day celebration. Since then it has grown into a community-wide collaboration between schools, service organizations, businesses, families, performers, volunteers, and other individuals dedicated to recognizing the value and importance of our young people, celebrating their individual differences and abilities, and encouraging them to look forward responsibly to the world they will inherit. With each passing year, Kids Day has resulted in an increased awareness and appreciation of Burlington's greatest asset, its children!
At present, Burlington's Kids Day is Vermont's largest children's festival, with approximately 5000 attendees. It is open to all young people who wish to participate. There is a diverse audience of the young and the young-at-heart from Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, and Canada who attend. Community involvement includes over 100 performers, 1500 parade participants, 75 businesses, 60 schools and service organizations, 50 volunteers, and 50 contributors.
There are a variety of ways to participate in Kids Day, for both children and adults! To have your business or group join the parade, have a booth or on-site activity, perform, or have your children's art on public display, click here to fill out our sign-up form, and return it to us!
