Among the many interesting features of Lakeview Cemetery is a wooden gazebo that has provided a sanctuary for cemetery visitors for decades. This structure, while retaining its unique design, has suffered significant deterioration due to its prolonged exposure to the elements. It desperately needs to be reconstructed in the near future or this unique landmark will be lost. Fortunately, there is a dedicated group of volunteers who have recognized the importance of this task and have begun the restoration effort. The Friends of the Howard Chapel and Lakeview Cemetery recently completed the fundraising and restoration of the Howard Chapel. This magnificent structure is now fully restored and open to the public. The "Friends" have taken up the challenge of raising the estimated $30,000 that will be required to save the gazebo. Photographs of the gazebo are included in the photo gallery on this website by clicking on the "Cemetery" tab.
